September 2016 – Here are the latest updates on the proposed gas station development at 86th and Lafayette Road. As you may have noticed, the developer has started to take down a lot of trees on the property. They are allowed to remove trees without needing an additional permits.

Zoning Permit:
Oral arguments have been set for October 11, 2016 at 10:00am. The case will be heard by Judge John F. Hanley (Marion County Superior Court – Civil Division 11, City-County Building, Center Tower, 14th Floor, Room T-1421).  The attorneys are in the process of filing their various briefs. It is likely that a decision will come a couple months after the case is heard. More details will be sent out, but please mark your calendars and plan to attend!

Alcohol Permit:
After being unanimously denied an alcohol permit at the local board and state board hearings, the developer has hired an attorney and filed an appeal with the state board. The case was assigned to Mr. David Rothenberg (Hearing Judge). A hearing date has still not been set, but we will keep you posted.

Fundraiser:
Many of the neighbors in the area are planning a fundraiser on October 1st from 4-7pm. Here are the details:

Where: Corner of W.85th & Lafayette Road
What: Fun for all! Food, dessert, silent auction, jumpy house, possible touch a truck, and good company all for a donation.

Petition:
Huge milestone! Over 1,600 people have signed our petition opposing this development and the alcohol permit. Over 80% of the signatures are from the local area!!
